How to Read AMO’s Party Platform Summary
AMO has developed a document to inform members how the main political parties are addressing municipal government issues. This document is a work in progress. It will be updated throughout the election period as new announcements and commitments are made. Each iteration of the document will have a date on it that will tell you the last time it was updated.
The information is organized by political party around AMO’s key Municipal Priorities (Part One). The source information we have used only reflects announcements and commitments that have been made since the beginning of the writ period on May 7th, 2014.
Where a political party has put out information or commitments that respond to our priorities, we have captured it. AMO has also written to the leaders of the three major parties to request further information or clarification on some of their positions and our priorities. These letters are available on our web site and we will post responses once they are received. The AMO Platform Summary document will also be updated to reflect these responses.
For commitments and announcements that do not directly respond to our priorities, but have potential implications for municipal government responsibilities, we have captured these in Part Two of the document to ensure that they are captured for members’ information. Where appropriate, we will note whether further information is being sought on these as well and will update the document as soon as possible.
Please check back frequently for updated information.
AMO will also communicate directly with its members regarding any major announcements or commitments made during the campaign to inform local governments in a timely manner.
