Toronto, Ontario, February 13, 2013. AMO, joined by the Large Urban Mayors’ Caucus of Ontario and the Mayors and Regional Chairs of Ontario will hold a media briefing to share their check list for improvements to the province’s interest arbitration.

There have been several legislative proposals to change the system and the check list will outline how to improve upon them. 

AMO President Russ Powers will be joined by Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion and Gary Burroughs, Chair of Niagara Region.

A moderated question and answer session will follow the briefing. 

AMO is a non-profit organization representing almost all of Ontario’s 444 municipal governments.  AMO supports and enhances strong and effective municipal government in Ontario and promotes the value of municipal government as a vital and essential component of Ontario and Canada’s political system.

The Mayors and Regional Chairs of Ontario (MARCO) is a group of mayors of single tier municipalities and chairs of regional governments. The Large Urban Mayors’ Caucus of Ontario (LUMCO) is a group of mayors from large urban municipalities.  Both groups are represented on the AMO Board of Directors.
