Toronto, December 4, 2017 – The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) is partnering with Solutions Notarius Inc. to offer AMO members a suite of digital signature services to help municipal governments manage electronic documents more efficiently.

Notarius digital signatures are electronic signatures that provide high assurance levels of signer identity and document integrity, authenticity and longevity. Using this technology will help municipalities streamline processes, reduce costs for document storage and safeguard the integrity of important municipal records.

Notarius was selected as an AMO preferred partner for digital signature services through an open and competitive RFP process held earlier this fall.

Notarius’ digital signature solutions are designed to protect the public and enable professionals to sign electronic documents with the same legal value as a paper document signed by hand. Notarius will offer two types of solutions to AMO members:
  • State-of-the-art digital signature solutions.
  • Advanced and legally reliable e-signing platform solutions.
A third type of solution, server-based products, include value added solutions for municipal governments that receive or create a large volume of digital records.

“Ontario’s municipal governments are always looking for ways to use new digital platforms to improve services while saving money,” said AMO President Lynn Dollin. “AMO’s partnership with Notarius provides a great opportunity for our members to find solutions that are cost effective, productive, and scalable to the management of their electronic documents.”

“By setting up this partnership with Notarius, AMO takes a leadership position in facilitating the digital transformation of municipal operations,” said Patrick Cormier, Notarius Vice President of Digital Transformation. “We have been consulting with municipal Chief Administrative Officers throughout Ontario and we know that many of them are on the tipping point of shifting to digital records. They only needed to know how to do so in a legally reliable manner.”

AMO’s 2017 report on municipal digital government transformation, #OnMuni Online, identified secure encrypted digital signatures as a scalable solution for municipal governments interested in finding operational efficiencies and cost savings, while enhancing security measures to existing electronic document management practices.
