Information about fulfilling the communications requirements of the Federal Gas Tax Fund.

Under the funding agreement, municipalities have a responsibility to communicate with the public in order to promote the benefits of the Federal Gas Tax Fund. Promotion is designed to support the agreement by showing that long term, predictable funding leads towards investments in environmentally sustainable infrastructure. Communication also helps demonstrate the success of this unique Federal-Municipal partnership.


In support of this, municipalities are encouraged to take advantage of the following opportunities:

  • Learn from an updated version of the Federal Gas Tax Fund communications toolkit which is now available on the AMO website. The documents have been revised to include updated facts, figures and key messaging. The toolkit is accessible by logging into our website using your AMO web and password.
  • Leverage AMO resources by notifying us of upcoming milestone events related to gas tax funded projects. Assistance is available in preparing news releases, media advisories and invitations to Federal and Provincial dignitaries. Key events include groundbreaking or ribbon cutting ceremonies.
  • Submit 3-5 high resolution photographs of gas tax funded projects, with captions, by email to gastax@amo.on.ca for inclusion in our future GTF Annual Reports and GTF Outcomes Reports.
