This paper looks at where we have been, what has been requested, what has been accomplished and what remains outstanding.
This is a third position paper that AMO has undertaken on the issue of Brownfields redevelopment. The first paper was the policy report “Promoting Municipal Leadership in Brownfield Redevelopment” in October of 2000. The second paper was the response to Bill 56 – The Brownfields Statute Law Amendments Act in August of 2001 and the subsequent presentation to the Standing Committee on General Government.

This third paper is intended to look at where we have been, what has been requested, what has been accomplished and what remains outstanding. It is with this last issue, of what remains outstanding, that we need to address and determine a path to move the initiative forward. It is equally important to highlight the positive steps that have been taken by the Federal and Provincial governments to enable a certain level of activity in relation to remediation of contaminated lands.
