Municipal Energy Performance Benchmarking
(Morning)
This session will provide participants (both staff
and elected officials) with guidance on next steps for making beneficial
energy and cost saving improvements at municipal facilities. Based on
evidence gathered from an extensive number of municipal facilities
studies, this session will address:
- What are the reasons for my current energy use?
(Why)
- What are the opportunities to improve performance and
how to do it?
- How to make continuous improvement a technique in
your municipality?
- What is the unrealized energy savings potential
across the sector and locally?
Municipal Energy
Planning: How to Make it Work for You
(Afternoon)
This afternoon session will provide municipal staff
and elected officials with an overview of the new Energy Planning Tool
(EPT). This free software tool is made
available to municipalities to encourage the creation of energy
conservation plans according to regulations developed under the
Green Energy and Green Economy Act,
2009.
These plans will need to include summaries of annual
energy consumption, forecasts, as well as an ongoing summary of progress
made against reduction targets. The EPT will help municipalities create
integrated energy management plans that allow municipalities
to:
- Manage Energy Activities and
Projects- List all your energy
activities/initiatives and projects in one place and add in costs,
targets, and expected outcomes.
- Generate Reports-
Present a full compliance checklist grouped by functional area. Samples
and templates offer assistance along the way.
- Track Organizational Energy
Effectiveness- Survey, set targets for,
and track the organizational and technical capacity of key operating
groups.
- Manage Energy Consuming
Assets- Create a simple profile for each
of your energy consuming assets that can be automatically
updated.
There is no cost for these workshop sessions. The sessions are complimented by the
prior day Municipal Energy Management
Workshops offered by LAS/AMO
in the same location.
