AMO's Federal Gas Tax Awards

AMO's Federal Gas Tax Awards celebrate projects that demonstrate excellence in the use of the federal Gas Tax Fund and honour the communities that administer them. Municipal governments of all sizes in Ontario are invited to apply.

Recipients are recognized on the main stage of AMO's Annual Conference, profiled in an AMO news release, promoted through AMO's social media channels and featured in AMO's Annual Report on the federal Gas Tax Fund. AMO also produces a short video in recipients' communities to highlight winning projects.

Niagara Region - Gas Tax Award Winner 2020

Niagara Region's Stamford Interceptor project receives AMO award
Toronto, Ontario, August 19, 2020 – The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) has recognized Niagara Region for investing federal Gas Tax funding in an innovative sewer rehabilitation project in the City of Niagara Falls. AMO Past President Jamie McGarvey announced Niagara Region’s Stamford Interceptor project as this year’s winner at the 2020 AMO Conference – held online for the first time due to COVID-19.

Vaughan’s Civic Centre Resource Library receives AMO award
Ottawa, Ontario, August 20, 2019 – The City of Vaughan has been recognized by the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) for using the federal Gas Tax Fund to improve energy-efficiency at its Civic Centre Resource Library (CCRL). Marco Mendicino, Parliamentary Secretary to the federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, presented the award today to Tim Simmonds, Vaughan’s Interim City Manager.

The City of Vaughan's Civic Centre Resource Library is a captivating space that serves more than 20,000 residents each month.

Vaughan invested the federal Gas Tax Fund in the library's energy-efficient components, including lighting and heating systems, which helped it achieve a LEED Silver certification.2018 Recipients.

Clearview Township Wins AMO Gas Tax Fund Award for Public Transit Project

Ottawa, Ontario, August 21, 2018 – Clearview Township has been recognized by the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) for using the federal Gas Tax Fund to launch a local public transit service.
