Canada-Ontario Infrastructure Bilateral Agreement Update
On March 14, 2018 Canada and Ontario signed the Canada-Ontario Infrastructure Bilateral Agreement. The Agreement sets out the annual federal funding amounts for each funding stream over 10 years and broad eligibility criteria. Under the Agreement, Ontario is responsible for project application intake and provincial review and approvals. Federal approvals are subject to Ontario recommendation.
After the agreement’s signing, we advised members that the rollout’s first intake would be after the fall municipal elections. With the transition to a new provincial government, we are awaiting confirmation. We continue to encouraged municipal officials to identify their priority projects for the new councils’ approval to put the municipality in the best position to respond to an intake. AMO will inform members as soon as details are available.
