Waste Diversion

The Blue Box program is the largest and most well-known diversion program in Ontario. In August 2019, the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks announced that the Blue Box program would transition to full producer financial & operational responsibility.

Organic programs are not cost-shared with producers of this type of waste, and fall outside of the scope of programs that are transitioning to full producer responsibility.
