New Head of Council Training

AMO’s iconic New Head of Councillor Training and New Councillor Training is back. AMO has modernized its training to reflect the realities, responsibilities, challenges and opportunities of municipally elected officials in today’s context.  

AMO understands the complexities of local leadership and is providing the knowledge, skills and tools that are required for success through our updated training. Delivered by experienced Chief Administrative Officers, Jim Pine and Tony Haddad, AMO’s New Head of Council and New Councillor Training also features subject matter experts where critical insights will be gained to help you in managing diverse aspects and expectations on issues that you will find before throughout your term.

As the leader of Council, your ability to manage and negotiate an array of scenarios, issues and relationships is paramount. AMO’s New Head of Council training is aimed at building your portfolio of skills as well as understanding on the key issues and policies of the day.

This interactive training will examine:

  • The role of municipal council and understanding your unique role 
  • Local government and intergovernmental roles and relationships
  • The role of the Chief Administrative Officer
  • Staff – Council Relationships
  • Code of Conduct
  • Communications
  • And much more

This one-day workshop will be offered virtually and is offered to elected officials only.
