Tires Program

Tires were the first material to move to full producer responsibility under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016. As of This means that tire producers are directly responsible and accountable for meeting mandatory collection and recycling targets for used tires.

Since January 1, 2019, tire producers have been directly responsible and accountable for meeting mandatory collection and recycling targets for used tires. The Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs) who are responsible for collecting these tires to determine if mutually agreeable commercial terms be reached. The list of collection sites for tires is available on the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority’s (RPRA’s) website.
