AMO Partners with Meeting Management & Livestreaming Provider eSCRIBE

Toronto and Markham, Ontario: The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) is partnering with eSCRIBE Software Inc. to offer AMO members secure, cloud-based, paperless meeting management and livestreaming solutions. The software is designed to increase transparency to citizens and drive operational efficiencies for municipal staff.

eSCRIBE’s paperless meeting management solution is currently used by many municipalities in Canada to save time, lower costs, and increase stakeholder engagement. The technology reduces resources required to support meetings, allowing staff to focus more on serving residents.

Canadian-owned and based in Markham, Ontario, eSCRIBE is familiar with legislative standards and procedures that form the foundation of Ontario’s municipal meetings, as well as considerations such as data sovereignty and privacy regulations. eSCRIBE’s solutions are also compliant with accessibility standards, such as AODA and WCAG 2.0.

As AMO’s preferred provider of cloud-based, paperless meeting management and livestreaming software, eSCRIBE will offer AMO members a combination of webinars, conference workshops and online resources to educate municipalities about eSCRIBE solutions and how to best use the technology to address their needs.

“Public meetings are at the heart of democracy and subject to many regulations. It requires a lot of staff resources to ensure they are properly held and documented. We know our members have been looking for a digital solution to meetings so they can be more efficient, accessible and transparent,” said AMO President Jamie McGarvey. “We know many Ontario municipalities have already had success with eSCRIBE. This partnership expands access to the service and will provide our members with the educational support to make sure they get the most out of the digital transition.”

“While we serve customers around the globe, Ontario is our company’s home, so it is particularly significant to us,” said Robert Treumann, President and CEO of eSCRIBE. “We want to ensure that Ontario municipalities of all sizes have the tools they need to meet open-meetings requirements and maintain accountability. Improvements we made to support enhanced municipal pecuniary interest reporting requirements introduced as part of Bill 68 Modernizing Ontario Municipal Legislations Act 2017, is an example of our commitment to our customers in Ontario.  In this partnership with AMO, we look forward to working even more closely with members to identify other areas where we can accelerate the digital transformation of meetings.”

AMO’s 2017 report on municipal digital government transformation, #OnMuni Online, identified several members that have implemented or are considering implementing secure, cloud-based, paperless meeting management and livestreaming technologies.
