Peter Emon Biography

In August at the AMO Conference I will be asking for your vote to allow me to speak for you about the issues, challenges and future expectations of your community.  I will offer Rural Ontario a strong, knowledgeable and persistent voice in speaking to the AMO Board, to the ROMA Board and to the Province of Ontario for the next two years.

The County of Renfrew is similar to most of Ontario, a mix of sparse and charming rural communities and variety of small urban areas. We are host to a diverse economy of hard working and innovative people driving their dreams forward and benefitting their home village or town and the County of Renfrew community. My thirty six year of municipal experiences position me well to represent you and your municipality with energy and positiveness.

I bring eight years of experience on the AMO Board as a Rural Caucus member and also sitting as a County Caucus Member.  I have been diligent and well prepared while attending the Board and caucus meetings on a regular basis. I have been a member of the County of Renfrew Council for 20 years.  I have served a four year term as Warden and I have recently completed a three year term leading the 17 member Council.  It is a unique environment as the Warden’s position is open to contest annually and I have served 7 one year terms. I have attended and contributed to many committees on a local, County, Provincial and Federal level.  This has often involved briefing Ministers and their staff to get legislation clarified, funds or programs for our municipalities.

Looking forward to meeting you in Ottawa August 16th to 19th to continue our advocacy for all of Ontario.

Thank you for your time, your commitment and your energy spent bettering your home community and Ontario.
