Riley Brockington Biography

Riley Brockington is serving in his third term as City Councillor with the City of Ottawa, including the last eight years on the AMO Board of Directors and most recently, four years as the Regional and Single Tier Caucus Chair.

Prior to his election to Council in 2014, Brockington was a senior analyst/economist at Statistics Canada, where he worked for 16 years.

Brockington is known as a moderate on City Council – fiscally prudent with tax dollars, but driven to address the complex and ever increasing social issues of his residents.  Brockington has served in many capacities including Deputy Mayor of Ottawa, Chair of Emergency Preparedness and Protective Services and a member on many standing committees over the years.

Brockington believes Ontario is a fantastic place to live, visit and invest but we are faced by very complex set of challenges, many of which are beyond the financial capacity of municipalities. Brockington will ensure AMO’s members will be heard, defended and advocated for.  We need to be more assertive with our needs, all the while remaining professional and focused with the provincial and federal governments, and all other partners.  We need strong, focused leadership at AMO and Riley Brockington will lead as our President.
