Session calendar
Each module runs several times, on weeknight evenings and Saturday mornings, in recognition of busy schedules. All sessions are live and virtual, about three hours each. Choose dates when you register; earliest registrations get first pick.

Important registration details
Who can register
Registration is open to municipal elected officials. Candidates can register once they have taken office. Municipalities planning for the next term can reserve seats in advance (see "Registering for your incoming council") below.
Registering for your incoming council
A municipal staff member can purchase seats for current or incoming members of council. Participant names must be confirmed at least two weeks before each session. If names are not received by then, that registration is cancelled and a cancellation fee applies.
One registration, one participant
Each registration admits the named participant only. It is not to be shared, broadcast, or viewed as a group. Anyone who joins a session without their own registration will be contacted for payment of the full fee.
Changing, transferring, or cancelling
Email education@amo.on.ca for any change. A registration can be transferred to another elected official, or switched to another session if space allows, with at least 48 hours' notice. Cancellations require one week written notice and carry a flat $75 + HST administrative fee. The same single fee applies whether you cancel one module or a full Learning Series.
Session size and scheduling
Each virtual session holds up to 30 participants. If a session has not reached its minimum two weeks before its date, registrants will be offered alternate dates. Sessions may also be rescheduled for unforeseen circumstances such as facilitator illness, with as much notice and as many alternate dates as possible.
In the session
To support an effective and impactful learning experience in virtual sessions, we ask all participants to prepare to participate actively. You’ll be encouraged to keep your camera on whenever possible, participate in dialogue and breakout groups, and share the time with others. To further support an open and safe environment, recording and AI notetaking is not permitted.
Certificate of completion
Participants who attend and complete the five core modules earn the Local Leadership Foundations Certificate. Leading Council, the module for heads of council, is not required for the certificate.
