A first look at Local Leadership Foundations

Join AMO and the Institute on Governance for a one-hour information session on AMO’s Local Leadership Foundations, the new learning program preparing Ontario's elected officials for their critical leadership roles in the 2026–2030 term.

Built by AMO and IOG, Local Leadership Foundations is a modern take on new council onboarding that complements local onboarding activities with a sector-wide perspective on what it takes to be successful:

• It combines self-guided online courses with live workshops across five core modules, plus a sixth for heads of council. 
• Each module explores an aspect of local leadership—governance, the decision-making process, finance and budgeting, integrity and civility, and more.
• Councillors can take the full series or individual modules, in whatever order fits their schedule.

In this session:

• What the program covers, and how the components fit together
• A live preview of the online learning materials
• Ways to register and take advantage of early bird and other discount options
• An opportunity to ask us anything about the program

Who should attend: Clerks and CAOs planning onboarding for the incoming council,  current members of council considering their own development for the next term, or anyone standing for election in October.
