Strengthening the Municipal Talent Pipeline
Join experts from the University of Waterloo’s Work-Learn Institute for a lunch-hour webinar showcasing new research on municipal work-integrated learning (WIL), funded and developed through AMO’s Municipal Workforce Development Project.
This session will explore what attracts students to co-ops, internships, field placements, and applied projects in municipal settings, and how these experiences shape their interest in pursuing long-term careers in local government. Drawing on student perspectives, the webinar will also highlight what makes these placements meaningful and how municipalities can design them to better support recruitment and retention.
Designed for municipal leaders, HR teams, and supervisors, this session offers practical insights on leveraging WIL to build future talent and strengthen workforce planning.
